Jonathan Motley represents employers in all areas of employment regulation, traditional labor management and immigration law. His experience includes representing employers before federal and state administrative bodies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the National Labor Relations Board, as well as litigation in both state and federal courts.
Actively involved in the manufacturing, technology, and health care industries, Jonathan focuses a substantial portion of his practice representing businesses in employment-related counseling and disputes. He advises companies across the country regarding day-to-day employment issues as well as the development of long-term strategies for addressing the ever-increasing regulatory environment. He has defended numerous employers in wage and hour, immigration, and discrimination-related investigations. In the area of litigation and dispute resolution, Jonathan has represented companies in wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful discharge lawsuits as well as representing companies in drafting and enforcing noncompetition and other post-employment covenants.
Jonathan also focuses a substantial portion of his practice in advising domestic and international companies in the area of immigration and immigration compliance. Jonathan has assisted numerous companies seeking to invest or acquire businesses in the United States obtain status and work authorization for their key executives, managers, and specialized knowledge staff. In addition, Jonathan routinely assists companies in the United States manage the transfer of staff among the companies’ affiliated entities abroad. Jonathan also represents companies in the negotiation, drafting and enforcement of agreements with international personnel recruiters and placement firms. Finally, Jonathan routinely represents employers in the United States on the subject of I-9 compliance.
Jonathan is a member of the Nashville, Williamson County, Tennessee and American Bar Associations, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and American Health Lawyers Association and he serves on the Board and Endowment Committee of Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee, Inc.
